Has anyone tried dvaulser keyboard layout?

Link: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=116910 (Arch Linux forum account required to view this page - see post #4 for main link)(I am not the author of the link or creator of this layout)

I don't know touch typing (as in typing without looking at the keyboard). Currently I have a QWERTY keyboard. I want to learn touch typing and searching in the net "Colemak" was recommended (Dvorak is not good for programmers, or so I heard). I plan to use ktouch in Arch Linux to learn typing.

Nope. Furthermore, your link didn't do anything useful for me?

I haven't heard of Dvaulser. I couldn't find anything about it either (your link isn't working). But if you want to make a research to see if Colemak is the best choice for you, I'd suggest you to look at Carpalx website. Maybe look at Workman also? In my eyes Dvorak is Colemak's only competition, if I can call it that. If you're excluding it for the reasons you mentioned, I'd look no further. But, of course, look around the web and see for yourself :) Whatever you decide you're always welcome here.

Sorry i forgot that one needs a Arch Linux forum account to view the page (but that thread has a big explanation about the layout by its author).

The actual links (xmodmap files etc.) are at http://dvausler.vincent.fea.st/

Re: Has anyone tried dvaulser keyboard layout?

This layout is just a revised Dvorak. It may be good for Dvorak users. In Dvaulser ZXCV have been moved, which is a nuisance that Colemak has been invented to correct.

With patojk keyboard analyzer website, I can give you so many new keyboard layouts by exchanging a few keys from an existing layout. You can try it at

http://patorjk.com/keyboard-layout-analyzer/

For example, this is a good layout that bring shorter finger travel than Colemak, but not hand alternation and left-right balance. It still keeps ZXCVQW in their old places.
