Hard or soft keyboards

Do you prefer the 'soft' laptop keyboards that generally are very easy to press down, or the harder keyboards usually used with PCs? What about phone screen keyboards?

Personally I love the laptop keyboard and I don't understand why people use those PC keyboards with such thick keys. I don't think I would be comfortable typing on a slippery phone keyboard though.

Have you tried any mechanical keyboards?

Re: Hard or soft keyboards

I used to love an Apple aluminum keyboard (laptop style with scissor switches), but have since switched to a Kinesis Advantage with Cherry MX Red switches (an ergonomic mechanical keyboard) and love it.

Mechanical switches are more durable and offer a variety of options: different activation force, with/without tactility, with/without click, etc.

@boli, sorry to go slightly off topic, but why did you pick the reds?
