Kmapper!

This program remaps your keboard, in Windows XP or Windows 2000, by adding a certain string to the registry, as defined by Microsoft. The string is long and complex and a pain to work out on paper, so I created this program to allow you to easily create the string, and remap your keyboard without needing to edit the registry manually, which can be a dangerous procedure.

This is the entire program, just run it, no installation needed.

Make your mappings, by selecting the key you wish to remap, then select the function you wish to map it to. Then choose ... from the menu and choose to save either Per User, or Per Machine.

This software is provided as freeware, use at your own risk!

Most keys map fine, the only ones that do not are Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause, and Home. This is due to a number of factors, and is ironic as these are the keys I wrote the program to be able to remap.

The registry keys concerned are

   PerMachine: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\Scancode Map
   PerUser: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Scancode Map

To remove the settings, either Load kmapper, and save to the registry again, or delete the Scancode Map entry, not the entire branch or you could stuff up some other bits.

The "Load from Registry" options are not implemented yet.
